How To Look After Your Beard
”I think for many men including myself growing a beard is almost a right of passage to being a fully fledged man, you grow one, prove to your mates you can grow more stubble than them, get pissed off with it and shave it off, but what about the hardcore beard growers out there that want to keep it? how should you maintain it and keep it in tip top condition? well you lucky buggers I’m going to give you some sound advice on how to keep your ‘fanny tickler’ in top shape.
Pruning
You should treat your beard like a prize piece of topiary, invest in a decent set of clippers and some hairdressing scissors. A good beard needs time to develop, let it grow out for a few months before you start trimming, once you have it at a decent length start shaping the beard with the clippers to create a nice clean tapered shape, experiment a bit to find what looks nice, use the scissors to trim under the top lip and any stray hairs. Also to highlight your nicely trimmed beard, lightly trim your eyebrows, nothing major just tidy them up and cut back any loose and wiry hairs.
Moisturise
You may think that because you have a beard that there is no reason to moisturise, well you should because having a beard can make your skin dryer as the hair can push moisture away from your face. Moisturising with a beard can beĀ difficult and requires more effort to work it in, but trust me you will feel better for it. Get a nice non oily moisturiser and gently work it in until absorbed.
Go to a barber
It is definitely worth getting your beard properly trimmed at least once a month at your barbers, a barber can pick up bits you missed and help shape your beard, just go along when you have your haircut and ask for a beard trim as well.
Conclusion:
These steps may seem pretty simple and they are if you follow them and set a routine, the secret is to give your beard time, don’t be in a hurry to grow one, let it grow for a few months, moisturise and love it, caress your beard and be proud of it, and who cares if the missus hates it, your a man, and that makes you utterly brilliant and always right.”

It is important for beardies to keep them styled, hair grows on the face at different rates much like the head and can look scruffy. A well groomed beard can look smart and professional, also it can help the style if everytime you have your haircut you have a beard trim with it, a second point of view can often spot little bits you personally miss!
